It seems like forever ago when former Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis shocked the entire NFL when he suddenly retired from the game of football during the team’s second regular season game in 2018.
One player that was on that 2018 team is still not only shocked about that moment, he had to recall when it happened.
On Thursday, Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White was on Instagram Live talking to running back LeSean McCoy when that very conversation came up. Both could barely contain their laughter as White re-enacted the entire scene for viewers.
“He had just made a big stop on third down. He put his fist up and got the crowd pumped up and everything,” White explained.
Soon after the Bills were forced to punt, a Bills coach asked the defense if they were ready to go.

Davis simply replied: “I’m done young boys. This my last go around.”
White asked Davis if he meant this was his last season, and he replied that the current game was his last.
“I’m thinking the whole time, why in the fuck would you go through OTAs and camp and you gonna do this shit,” White said.
The following day, McCoy explained how he and White went to Davis’ house to get the story of what exactly happened.
Davis explained: “Now listen Shady. This is a young man’s game, Shady. If you can’t go, it’s over Shady. I’m out there Shady and, you’re Shady McCoy. When you can’t cut on a dime, Shady, it’s time to go.”
The video got reposted so much that Davis contacted White.
