Travis Kelce’s career might’ve been saved based on one team electing not to take him during the NFL Draft.
He was drafted by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft and later won Super Bowls LIV and LVII with the team, but things could’ve been much different if the then-St. Louis Rams had taken him.
During a small snippet of an interview featuring Kelce and his mom, Donna, she explained that it was a humbling situation for Kelce as he continued to fall into the draft.
He stated he finally received a call and became disgusted when he noticed it was a Missouri area code.
“St Louis? I don’t even want to answer this. I don’t like St. Louis.”
He went on to answer it but the video cuts off so we are not sure what happened from there.

Kelce has carved out quite the career since being drafted by the Chiefs.
It’s not hard to understand why Travis Kelce is already viewed as one of the best tight ends of all time considering his list of accomplishments.
He holds NFL records for consecutive 1,000-yard seasons by a tight end, most seasons with 1,000 receiving yards, most games with 100-plus yards among tight ends, most seasons with 100-plus receptions by a tight end, and the single-season record for receiving yardage by a tight end.
By the end of the 2023 NFL season, Kelce will overtake Jason Witten for the fifth-most career receiving touchdowns by a tight end in NFL history.
