Travis Kelce has discussed his latest injury, having gone through a scare with his ankle during the Chiefs’ 27-20 win over the Vikings on the weekend.
Kelce appeared to hurt his leg after trying to turn after making a catch and was caught on camera slamming his helmet into the ground in frustration thereafter. This marked the tight end’s second injury this season as he was unable to play in the Chiefs’ opener, a loss to the Detroit Lions, due to a knee injury suffered in practice the week leading up to the fixture.
“I rolled my ankle,” Kelce said on the ‘New Heights’ podcast he does with his brother Jason H/T the New York Post. “It was unfortunate. If you watch it in slow motion, my ankle kind of slips.”
The two-time Super Bowl champion, who turned 34 this month, is blaming his age for the injuries.
“I’m just out here being old as F and just offing myself,” he reasoned. “Because I’m not getting tackled and getting injured. Nobody is doing this to me but me.”
Kelce was fortunate to be able to return to the game but feared the ankle was a lot worse right after it happened, or possibly even broken.

“Initially felt a few things going on in my ankle, didn’t feel great,” he explained. “That’s why when I first rolled it I got right off the field, I really couldn’t put much weight on it.”
The player’s status for Thursday night’s game against the Broncos is unclear as he has been limited in practices. ESPN has reported that he has been aggressive in his attempts to get cleared as “he hates missing games.”
