The Kansas City Chiefs are very familiar with referee Carl Cheffers.
The Kansas City Chiefs got the short end of the stick on Monday Night Football when a ref decided to call a roughing the passer penalty on Chris Jones after his sack and fumble recovery of Derek Carr.
The referees determined that Jones had actually committed a roughing the passer penalty on the sack, causing Chiefs fans at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to erupt in booing and dish out several hate chants.
The referee who made the call was Carl Cheffers. Travis Kelce is familiar with him, because he called him out once before a few years ago.
In an AFC Divisional Round game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cheffers called offensive tackle Eric Fisher for holding on what would have been a successful two-point conversion attempt that would have tied the game.
After the Chiefs loss 18-16, Kelce went off on that ref.

“It’s ignorance. The ref, No. 51 shouldn’t be able to wear a zebra jersey ever again,” said Kelce. “He shouldn’t even be able to work at f–king Foot Locker.”
Kelce was fined $12,500 for the comments.
His bad call seemed to break him on Monday as it appeared Arrowhead Stadium had him so shaken in the second half, that his voice started cracking during a call.
A scary lesson was learned on that night.
