Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has gotten on the wrong side of fans after appearing in a commercial for Bud Light that you could see right below.
The popular beer is swirling in some controversy at the moment, having tanked after a partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. And it appears the brand is looking to regain a foothold in the market by attaching itself to one of the best NFL players of the current era.
The ad, called “Backyard Grunts With Travis Kelce,” makes fun of the sounds people of different ages make when they sit or get up. Kelce doesn’t touch the can and doesn’t mention it either – he never even looks at it as NFL rules prohibit players from promoting alcoholic beverages, but it was enough to attract the ire of the fans.

To be fair to the brewers, if there’s one NFL player you want appearing in your ad while knowing they’ll face a bit of backlash is the happy-go-lucky Kelce. The fact that he’s a reigning Super Bowl champion might help, but it also might not.
Judging from the fan reception, it doesn’t appear that Bud Light will regain as many consumers as they’ve lost since the Mulvaney collab. They might need a whole lot more than Kelce.
