The New York Jets need a franchise QB in the worst way because it has become increasingly clear that Zach Wilson is not that guy.
On Thursday, Wilson was 9-for-18 for 92 yards and an interception when the Jets benched him in the second half. It was Wilson’s second game being benched because of his poor performance. Now, it appears that it is a sign that the relationship between the two sides is all but over.
Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reports New York is expected to “move on” from the second-year quarterback in the offseason, giving the Jets a chance to go in a different direction.
“They’ve lost all confidence in Zach Wilson,” Glazer said. “Zach lost confidence in himself going into that last game, [and] came out with even less confidence. Expect the Jets to move on from him after this season.”
So, where do they go from here?
During the NFL Stock Exchange Podcast, an idea of trading for Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love came up.

“I think a team could offer a second-round pick for him,” Trevor Sikkema of PFF stated on the show.
“I mean who would have more info on him than the Jets,” Jets analyst Connor Rogers asked out loud. “The LaFleur brothers. It’s fascinating.”
The Jets drafted Wilson with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL draft, and gave him the starting quarterback job immediately that season. He has battled injuries and terrible play on the field. Since the start of 2021 Wilson has thrown for over 4,000 yards with 15 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in 22 games with the team.
Jordan Love initially entered the NFL as the No. 26 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. His lack of playing is due to Aaron Rodgers playing even better since they traded up to select him. In 2021, Love appeared in six games but only started in one of those contests. This season he has appeared in three games.
Love is still only 24 years of age and has two years left on his $12 million rookie contract through 2024.
Since New York is likely to pick in the teens in the draft, the team will probably look to add a veteran quarterback in the offseason.
