Washington Huskies star wide receiver Rome Odunze had the ideal response to a reporter’s peculiar question at the NFL Combine on Wednesday.
While speaking to the media on Friday, Odunze was asked by a reporter if he could land a plane in an emergency situation. Let’s just say that the 21-year-old Odunze was perfectly blunt in his response.
“Absolutely not,” Odunze said. We are going down. All souls have perished.”
Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times shared the clip of Odunze’s hysterical response that drew plenty of laughter from the crowd:
At least he’s honest!
Odunze is widely expected to be a top-10 pick in this year’s draft, with some even believing that he could be the first non-quarterback taken. Some scouts and analysts have even compared Odunze to Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald, who’s second all-time in both receptions and receiving yards behind only Jerry Rice.

Most believe the Chicago Bears will use the No. 1 selection on USC quarterback Caleb Williams, with the Washington Commanders likely to take either North Carolina’s Drake Maye or LSU’s Jayden Daniels at No. 2.
The New England Patriots hold the No. 3 pick and will presumably either take a QB or Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. If the latter is available to the Arizona Cardinals at No. 4, they’ll likely take him.
But a player of Odunze’s caliber should be gone anywhere from the No. 5 to No. 10 spots when all is said and done. His 2023 stat line (92 receptions, 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns) speaks for itself.
