Ray Davis is a prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft, and his life will almost certainly be changed forever when the University of Kentucky running back’s name is called in at the Draft Detroit on April 25th, 2024.
Success hasn’t always been a possibility in Davis’ life. He has suffered through so much adversity, including spending time in foster care, being homeless, and having parents who were constantly in and out of prison and unable to provide for him.
Davis played football at multiple high schools and followed up his high school career by playing at three colleges, including Temple and Vanderbilt. He most recently played in Kentucky for the 2023 season.
In a recent article with the New York Post, the Kentucky running back pointed out that he is statistically the “one percent,” and he’s been lucky to make it out of the position that he was in. He added that he wasn’t doing it for himself, stating, “I’m doing it for a lot of other kids who are in that situation.”
Ray Davis To Be Taken In The NFL Draft Against All Odds
Davis was in foster care by age eight and eventually was living in a homeless shelter at age 14 with his 12 other siblings. After being taken in by two teachers and ending up at a boarding school at age 15, his dad, Raymond, would eventually return to his life.
The running back finished the last two seasons with the Wildcats with career-bests in rushing yards (1,129), receiving yards (323), and touchdowns (21). And all this was in the best conference in the country.

The 5-foot-8, 211-pound running back didn’t test too well at the combine, but there is still interest in him. He is projected to be a day-two pick and could fit well on almost any team as a complimentary running back.
