Since retiring from the NFL, Tony Romo was found to be a diamond in the rough as a broadcaster for CBS almost immediately.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback is closing in on the end of his first contract and there’s a solid chance that he might not sign another one.
Romo’s representatives are looking for a contract extension paying him “eight figures” annually to remain as CBS Sports’ top NFL analyst in 2020 and beyond, sources tell Sporting News.
Michael McCarthy of SportingNews.com reports that “[t]here’s . . . a chance” that Romo “could walk away from TV” altogether.
There is also a chance that Rom is trying to position himself to get a massive contract to the tune of $10 million annually, per that same report.
Romo has drawn rave reviews for his performance in only two seasons in the broadcast booth, and he knows just how valuable he is, especially since there was much fan-fare when it was announced he would be calling the Super Bowl.
