The more Tony Romo talks, the more you start to understand why he tossed so many late-game interceptions in his career and could never advance to the NFC Championship game.
Romo’s CBS career started off on fire in his first season, but something happened after he got paid as the man fans fell in love with started sounding different.
His questionable broadcasting skills continued to falter when he was on call for the Patriots-Raiders game.
Trailing 19-10 in the fourth quarter, the Patriots scored a touchdown with just under 4 minutes to play, which brought them within three points.
Kicking the extra point to make it 19-17 was clearly the smart choice here, but Romo argued that the Patriots should actually go for the two-point conversion and pointed out his strange reason why.
“I always wondered in this situation right here, you can go for one and obviously you make it where a field goal wins the game,” Romo said to first acknowledge the obvious. “But I always thought, if you go for two and you get it, Jim, then you can be really aggressive on defense, and if they score you’re still down eight points and you got a chance with the ball.”

I can assure you that you will never see Romo hired on any coaching staff with thoughts like that.
You can even hear in Jim Nantz’s voice how bad his suggestion was.
“I like this play right here,” Nantz said of New England opting for the extra point. “Cause now you win it with a field goal.”
“It’s true,” Romo said.
In the end, it did not matter as Patriots quarterback Mac Jones would get sacked for a safety and the Patriots would go on to lose the game and drop to 1-5 on the year.
