Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned lead NFL analyst Tony Romo is now weighing in on Ezekiel Elliott’s future with the franchise amidst all of the contract drama this offseason.
Elliott, who can be argued as the best running back in the league, has remained away from the team during training camp as he is seeking a hefty pay raise even though he has two years left on his rookie deal.
The former Cowboys signal caller gave the fan base a breath of fresh air when he stated confidently that Zeke will indeed get paid and remain with the team.
Romo, now a top analyst for CBS, believes it’s a “coin flip” when it comes to Elliott’s status for Week 1.
“Yeah, I don’t know about that,” Romo said of Elliott’s Week 1 status. “I think that’s a coin flip, but I do think he’ll back at some point. But Week 1? He’ll be close.”
Zeke’s holdout is expected to go into the regular season, and if the team loses a game or two, that can only help him with leverage to getting that deal sooner rather than later.
