Former Quarterback and current CBS broadcaster Tony Romo’s commentary hasn’t exactly been a fan favorite, but if you ask the man himself, he doesn’t care.
Originally, fans loved his insightful and detailed breakdowns of plays and formations on the field for CBS, but this year hasn’t been great to him. He’s been missing a ton of plays and his calls are more disjointed, and fans have made it known, to the point where the network had to step in. When Romo was asked about his public perception, he couldn’t care less.
“And guess what? There’s agendas. People like clicks. I mean, that’s a real thing. And I think they should. I think it’s all a positive. Talking about it, it helps all of the NFL. Our job is to go out there and perform like we’ve done and try to always do our best. I think we’ve done a great job with that. You’re looking at a very talented group here. Like all things, we’re going to go and try to put our best foot forward.”- Tony Romo
Romo joined CBS in 2021 to critical acclaim, but his 2022 year wasn’t his best. Though he had a down year, the former Dallas Cowboy was a welcomed addition in year one, showing a knowledge of football that fans would tune into to listen.
Romo is best known for his career as starting Quarterback for the Cowboys, were he threw for 34,000 yards and 248 touchdowns and finished his career at 78 wins and 49 losses.
Could the former starter use some time to better his analysis? Of course,it’s doubtful that this is because of viewers complaining. At the end of the day, he’s there to provide perspective to the game, and the viewer is there for the football more than him.
