CBS NFL analyst Tony Romo has offered more comments towards the growing criticism regarding his performance.
Last week, it was reported that CBS held an “intervention” with Romo to talk about his performance as an on-air analyst for the network’s NFL broadcasts. Apparently, CBS spoke to Romo about how his performance with play-by-play man Jim Nantz could improve.
Last week, Romo spoke about the criticism he’s received during an interview with the New York Post, noting that the best can’t be afraid of failure.
During an interview with BroBible, Romo again responded how he deals with the criticism over his NFL analyst work.
“You’ve gotta stay true to who you are. You can’t please everyone. I know that because the number of people who come up to me has quadrupled since the first two or three years.
The thing is, the people who really love you aren’t gonna keep going out of their way to say, “I love you.” They’re not going to keep tweeting “He’s the best” every week, right? So, that goes away and then you hear more negative stuff, but that’s just noise.
At the end of the day, my goal is just for the viewer at home to really feel the game. That’s what I tried to do with the AFC Championship. That was a huge game for Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, every coach, and everyone who played in that game.”

Romo was also asked to predict who would win Super Bowl 57 between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday. The former Dallas Cowboys star quarterback didn’t give a definitive answer, but it appears as though he’s leaning towards Nick Sirianni’s club:
“After we did Philadelphia’s game earlier this year, I was like, “I don’t see a team beating these guys” just because of the scheme.” You need to play these guys three or four times before you can understand their system.
If Kansas City pulls this off, it’s because their defense was able to figure out something that no one else has this year. They can do it, but it’s going to be hard.”
The four-time Pro Bowler retired from football after the 2016 season and signed a deal with CBS to take over as the analyst for their top NFL commentary team alongside Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson. After the 2019 season, Romo was handed a lucrative 10-year extension worth around $17 million annually.
The Eagles enter as a 1.5-point favorite over the Chiefs in Super Bowl 57, which will take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Philly and Kansas City won it all in the 2017 and 2019 seasons, respectively, so the winning team will get that much closer to dynasty status.
