Rob Gronkowski spent the 2019 NFL season working for FOX Sports alongside Tony Gonzalez. Following his decision to come back to the NFL, Gonzalez wasn’t shocked by it at all.
Gronk played for the Patriots from 2010-18, won three Super Bowl titles, but elected to cut his career short after the team defeated the L.A. Rams in the Super Bowl in 2018.
Gonzalez always believed Gronkowski could return and talked about not being shocked at his decision about playing for another team, because he wasn’t having fun in New England.
“When he came out, I was not surprised,” Gonzalez said on Tuesday’s episode of Speak For Yourself on FS1. “It’s more of a tell that he didn’t like it in New England. It’s not fun. He liked winning, but it’s just not fun. Now he gets to have fun and go out there and win, and they’re a championship caliber team now.”
Gonzalez also believes the offense, which features Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Gronk, O.J. Howard, and Cameron Brate, is the best crop of talent that Brady has ever had.
