After just nine seasons in the National Football League, Rob Gronkowski didn’t want to deal with the constant injuries any loner, so he officially announced his retirement after winning his third Super Bowl in his illustrious career.
Despite his short career, Gronk cemented himself as one of the best tight ends to ever play the game, but does that mean he’s the greatest at his position? Gronk is in some good company that includes players like Shannon Sharpe, Mike Ditka, and Tony Gonzalez.
Speaking of Tony Gonzalez — TMZ Sports recently caught up with the hall of famer and asked him straight up if thinks Gronk is the best or does he have himself at the top.
“Hey, we’re both great,” Gonzalez said at LAX on Monday night … “We’re both the G.O.A.T.s!”
Gonzalez with 17 years in the league: 1,325 receptions, 15,127 receiving yards and 111 receiving TDs.
Gronk with 9 years in the league: 521 receptions, 7,861 receiving yards and 79 receiving TDs (plus 3 Super Bowls).
