NFL fans were making the same joke after Tommy DeVito came in to relieve an injured Tyrod Taylor in the New York Giants-New York Jets Sunday afternoon contest at MetLife Stadium.
Taylor got his third straight start with starting QB Daniel Jones sidelined with a neck injury. Taylor left the game against the Jets with a rib injury, prompting the Giants to put in their third-string quarterback.
The Giants’ QB has the same name as Joe Pesci’s “Goodfellas” character, Tommy DeVito. Pesci won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of DeVito, who was based off of real-life criminal Thomas DeSimone.
So of course, social media had a field day making jokes about the Giants’ new quarterback:
