New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito “woke up this morning” and got himself a win.
The Giants helped DeVito enjoy a slick pregame intro by playing the iconic “The Sopranos” theme song — “Woke Up This Morning” by Alabama 3 — during his entrance ahead of Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.
“The Sopranos” aired on HBO from Jan. 10, 1999 to June 10, 2007. The award-winning program starred the late James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano), Edie Falco (Carmella Soprano), Lorraine Bracco (Dr. Jennifer Melfi), Michael Imperioli (Christopher Moltisanti) and Dominic Chianese (Corrado “Junior” Soprano).
DeVito won his second consecutive start on Sunday, leading the Giants to a tight 10-7 win over the Patriots. DeVito completed 17 pass attempts for 191 yards and a touchdown.
New York sealed the victory over its AFC rivals when Patriots kicker Chad Ryland missed a game-tying 35-yard field goal attempt. The Giants improved to 4-8 with the low-scoring victory.
