If it weren’t for Tom Brady, most people wouldn’t make much of day three of the NFL Draft. After all, rounds four through seven usually aren’t the best place to find that franchise-changing piece.
The New England Patriots would obviously disagree with that notion, however. That’s because during the sixth round of the 2000 draft, they were able to find some Michigan quarterback who would go on to lead them to six Super Bowl titles while becoming the greatest player of all time.
Now, every time the sixth round of the draft rolls around, you can expect to hear Tom Brady’s name get mentioned a few dozen times.
This year, one of those mentions came from PGA star Justin Thomas. And TB12 had the perfect response.
Sure, the sixth round of the NFL draft is still a good place to find a player with a chip on their shoulder. But it’s highly unlikely (and likely impossible) that we’ll ever see a quarterback of Brady’s caliber fall that far in the draft again.
