Tom Brady has kept his word about retiring from football for eight months now. Should the seven-time Super Bowl champion decides to play again, he has certainly at least done his part in staying in game shape.
Per Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post, the now 46-year-old Brady posted a shirtless photo of himself on Instagram with a caption that read, “Side effects of @tb12sports protein … mid august rolls around and you start thinking about finding a training camp to show up to” with a pair of laughing emojis.
Chances are, of course, that Brady is only teasing about actually returning to football. All 32 teams are wrapping up preseason play, with Week 1 of the regular season now just three weeks away, and Brady would have needed several weeks to practice and learn a team’s playbook if he were to come out of retirement (again).
Brady’s final season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t go as well as many expected. They barely won the NFC South with an 8-9 record, and that only led to them getting humiliated by the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round.
The three-time league MVP walks away as the NFL’s all-time leader in most meaningful passing categories, including yards (89,214) and touchdowns (649).
