With a win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game — Tom Brady was set to make his ninth Super Bowl appearance in his 18 seasons, more than any other franchise in the entire NFL.
Brady had already won more Super Bowls than any quarterback, but then added one more for good measure after the team defeated the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII. It’s safe to say Brady’s stock is extremely high, especially in the world of trading cards.
Just recently, an autographed rookie Brady card shattered the record for the highest price paid for a trading card on eBay. The mint 2000 Players Contenders Championship Rookie Ticket card was sold by PWCC Marketplace for just over $400K this week, easily beating the previous record that was set last week when a Michael Jordan card was sold.
The rookie card was rumored to be in possession of former NFL guard Evan Mathis, according to Rich Mueller of Sports Collectors Daily. Mathis seems to have a knack for making money this way, as he sold a 1952 Mickey Mantle card at auction for a near-record $2.88 million.
