Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said that Antonio Brown “is no longer a Buc” after the wide receiver left the field during the third quarter against the New York Jets on Sunday.
Teammates Mike Evans and O.J. Howard attempted to calm Brown down, but he was dead set on doing what he did and leaving the field. At that point, there was no turning back. Antonio Brown was done with the Buccaneers. And the Buccaneers were done with him.
After the game, Tom Brady, who has been in Brown’s corner for a few years now, reacted to his friend being released. Needless to say, the Bucs quarterback wasn’t really in the mood to get into details about what he thought.
When Arians was asked what led to the decision to cut Brown, the coach said: “I’m not talking about him. He’s no longer part of the Bucs.”
Brown had three catches for 26 yards in the game on five targets. There’s no clear reason why he left the stadium in such an unconditional way.
