Former NFL star Tom Brady is a man of exquisite taste, but that may or may not have been apparent during his recent appearance at Roland Garros.
The 45-year-old wore an extremely rare Rolex wristwatch to the French Open on Sunday and, as GQ points out, it was a special piece that was only made available to select dealers in the Middle East.
The Day-Date, which is made of platinum and boasts a green dial with Eastern Arabic numerals on the face, has been identified as the Ref. 228206, which came out in 2021.
According to GQ, Rolex started making 40mm Day-Dates bearing Arabic dials in the 1950s at the behest of the wealthiest individuals in the Gulf, such as Kings, Sultans, and oil dealers.
The company stopped making them in the 1970s and they didn’t come back around until 2016 after watch lovers began calling for their return. Brady’s watch launched five years later and could go for as much as $150,000.
Of course, anyone who’s had multiple NFL contracts can afford one of those, but they’d have to share the taste and have the connections to actually get one.

Brady is a known watch lover and is also known to have quite a collection. He got his own Tag Heuer model when he signed with the brand in 2015 but has been spotted with several other luxury pieces since retiring earlier this year.
