For Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, Christmas 2022 will be one like no other.
Brady and the Buccaneers will visit the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Christmas Day (8:20 p.m. EST) in one of three games scheduled for Dec. 25.
This will also be Brady’s first Christmas since divorcing his wife of 13 years, Gisele Bündchen. The two announced back in October that they had divorced, and they agreed to joint custody of their son Benjamin and daughter Vivian.
During the latest edition of his “Let’s Go!” podcast (h/t Lea Veloso of StyleCaster),, the 45-year-old Brady explained that his 2022 Christmas Day will be spent in a hotel room and without his children:
“It’ll be a new experience that I’ve never had before that I’m gonna learn how to deal with. And I think that’s what life’s about. So you just asked a question about what have you learned from this football season? I’m gonna learn how to deal with Christmas Eve in a hotel, and I’m gonna have to learn how to deal with Christmas and Christmas night and still go out there and be a professional.
And then look forward to celebrating Christmas with my kids the day after. Which is, you know, just part of what football season has been for a long time. So it’s just, again, emotional aspects that allow us to thrive.”
Brady and the Buccaneers fell 34-23 to the Cincinnati Bengals at home on Sunday, watching a 17-0 lead evaporate en route to another frustrating loss. Despite a losing record (6-8), Brady and the Buccaneers are still leading the NFC South division.
But a Tampa Bay loss and a win by the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and/or Carolina Panthers would lead to a tie for the division crown.
