San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Brock Purdy is just two victories away from pulling off one of the most improbable stories in NFL history.
Purdy, the very last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft (hence the “Mr. Irrelevant” nickname), won all five regular season starts to help the 49ers lock down the NFC West division crown. He then led San Fran to playoff victories over the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys, setting up an enticing NFC Championship Game showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Commenting on an Instagram post from Bleacher Report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal-caller Tom Brady had an awesome message for Purdy ahead of the 49ers’ big game at Lincoln Financial Field.
Purdy’s first NFL start took place against Brady and the Buccaneers at Levi’s Stadium back in Week 14. In that game, Purdy completed 16 of 21 pass attempts for 185 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions to go along with one rushing score. The 49ers soundly defeated Tampa Bay 35-7 in that contest.
The 23-year-old Purdy finished the regular season with a 67.1 completion percentage, 13 touchdowns and four interceptions.
