Tom Brady had a tumultuous season in 2022 which would prove to be the final one of his career.
It was hard for him to really put his full focus on his game with his personal life going through hell with the departure of his wife Gisele Bundchen.
The 42-year-old model separated from Brady in late October, ending the pair’s 13-year marriage. There were reports that Bundchen gave Brady an ultimatum – divorce or retire.
During an interview with Colin Cowherd earlier this week, former teammate Logan Ryan suggested that Brady’s personal life affected him greatly and it led to him finally retiring after the 2022 season.
“I think just knowing how he was interacting with his family, his kids, in terms of really wanting to spend time with his kids and be there with his kids, that was a little different,” Ryan said (h/t Pro Football Talk). “Because his kids were older. I think the stuff that was going on off the field and on the field I think was weighing on him a little bit, as obviously, we’re all humans. So I knew that there was going to be some type of break after the season.”
Ryan added he sensed some “finality” last season.

“I thought the way the team was constructed, of them winning the Super Bowl a few years earlier and running it all back roster-wise, that Tampa was only built for so long,” the Pro Bowl cornerback told Cowherd.
Despite the team’s lackluster play as they limped to a division win, Brady still set a new single-season NFL record by completing 485 passes. Brady passed for 4,694 yards — third most in the NFL — and 25 touchdowns this past season, his third with the Bucs.
In the playoffs, the team made it with a losing record and got beat by the Dallas Cowboys, which would be the first time that had happened to a Tom Brady-led team.
Brady spent his first 20 years with the New England Patriots, creating a legacy there that will likely never be matched before heading to Tampa Bay in 2020. He only spent three years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but even in the short time there he also cemented himself in their franchise history.
