Retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady has given a significant update on when he’ll officially make the transition to the broadcast booth.
Last year, the seven-time Super Bowl champion signed a 10-year deal with FOX worth $375 million to serve as an analyst alongside the network’s No. 1 commentary team of play-by-play voice Kevin Burkhardt and sideline reporter Erin Andrews.
Brady won’t begin his broadcasting career this season, with former tight end Greg Olsen still working as the analyst alongside Burkhardt and Andrews. But during the latest edition of his “Let’s Go!” podcast (h/t Daniel Chavkin of Sports Illustrated), Brady confirmed that he’ll be in the booth next year:
“I was very blessed to play for as long as I did, and I loved it. Now I get to see other guys do it, and I also get to see football from a different perspective. I’ll be on Fox next year, so I have a chance to really sit back and watch and learn a different career.
“I’ll be able to really watch this year from kind of a different eye. I used to watch from the lens of a quarterback, now I see it more from broadcasting, but also as a fan, and also still as a quarterback.”
The 46-year-old Brady announced his second retirement in February, following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Super Wild Card Weekend. Brady initially announced his retirement back in 2022, only to announce 40 days later that he was coming back.
Brady retires as the NFL’s all-time leader in practically every major passing category, including completions, yards, touchdowns and wins. Brady’s seven Super Bowl championships are more than all 32 NFL franchises; the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots share the most with six apiece.

The New England Patriots will honor Brady before their Week 1 opener at Gillette Stadium this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Brady spent his first 20 seasons with the Patriots (2000 to 2019), leading the club to six championships in that period.
