When Tom Brady came into the NFL back in 2000, there wasn’t a whole lot of hype around the 6th round pick out of Michigan.
There was no swarm of reporters suffocating the quarterback, trying to get a word from him. Rather, the event went pretty much unnoticed at the time. In fact, it wasn’t until now that we realized the GOAT himself actually spoke with the media following his big moment.
Rare audio has just surfaced of Tom Brady’s first phone call with the media after he was taken with the 199th pick of the 2000 draft. And it’s a doozy.
It’s like listening to Brady speak now…23 years later. Some things never change.
At the time, Brady said he was “ready for it.” And he clearly was. All he did from that point on was win seven Super Bowls, five Super Bowl MVPs, and three NFL MVPs, while also being named to 15 Pro Bowls and 6 All Pro teams.
Not bad for a sixth-round pick.
