Well, this was rather shocking.
Tom Brady is 42-years-old and continues to show he can defeat father time as he seeks yet another Super Bowl title during the upcoming season. So what would happen if he was forced to play another two regular season games in order to do so?
It doesn’t seem to bother him at all, in fact, he seems to be on board with the league going to an 18-game schedule.
Via NBC Sports:
“During last week’s minicamp, I asked Tom Brady about it. I didn’t frame the question very well, leading the witness by saying, “How much damage would an 18-game season do to players?”
Brady didn’t readily agree to the direction I was headed.
“It depends how you take care of yourself,” he said. “That’s how I see it. I think your ability to play, your ability to practice is as good as your ability to recover. So if you can’t recover, I think a six-game schedule is hard. I try to focus on the recovery of things and try to be out here every day in practice. I know it takes a level of focus and commitment to do that. There’s a lot of work in advance that needs to be done to make that happen. So … I love football.”
It would certainly be a difficult task because the majority teams have already lost key players by the time the postseason comes around, and adding two more games would just add to the injury list.

Certain things would have to be figured out well before the 18-game schedule could even happen. Rosters would have to expand and the money would certainly have to make sense for players to even get on board with this change.
If the NFL truly cares about CTE and the affects it could have, then this 18-game schedule shouldn’t even be mentioned as an option.
But, you know, money seems to cloud everybody’s judgement, especially if you’re not the one putting your health on the line every week.
