Tom Brady is going viral this week after he took to Twittr on Sunday and responded to a Twitter user that said the Tampa Bay Bucs QB was ‘loading up on Bitcoin.’
Thirteen hours later, that is exactly what he did.
It was just earlier this year when Brady announced he will be launching an NFT platform, Autograph, which will allow celebrities to create and list digital collectibles. If you’re unaware, NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are digital representations of content maintained on a blockchain or decentralized ledger.
Brady isn’t the only one with interest in crypto. Carolina Panthers tackle Russell Okung announced he would be converting half of his $13 million salary to Bitcoin late last year. He also regularly tweets about it on his Twitter account.
Bitcoin, which now boasts over a $1 trillion market capitalization, has garnered support from celebrities and public figures.
