With ESPN laying off dozens of big-name personalities on Friday, there will be plenty of available talent for other networks to scoop up over the coming weeks.
One of those big names who will likely attract a lot of attention is NFL Draft expert Todd McShay, who was surprisingly let go by the Worldwide Leader earlier today. McShay was a regular for years on ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage, providing plenty of insight leading up to one of the biggest events on the National Football League’s calendar.
Now that he’s available on the open market, it didn’t take long for McShay to garner some interest from another network.
Not long after word spread of McShay’s firing, Will Compton of Barstool’s ‘Bussin’ With the Boys’ made the call to company founder, Dave Portnoy, to hire the highly-respected NFL draft analyst.
Whether or not Portnoy answers Compton’s call remains to be seen, but he would be quite the addition to the constantly-growing Barstool network.
McShay wasn’t the only casualty on the football side of things at ESPN today. The company also let go of other big-name talents like Steve Young, Suzy Kolber and Keyshawn Johnson. It’s a major overhaul to the network’s NFL coverage, which is expected to look at lot different next year.

With McShay now gone, we can expect a lot more Mel Kiper when it comes to the network’s NFL Draft coverage. Kiper has always been one of ESPN’s most recognized names when it comes to draft analysis.
McShay’s release likely means Kiper is safe at ESPN for the time being. But if today’s events have taught us anything, it’s that no one is really safe when it comes to Disney’s current string of cutbacks (except Stephen A. Smith, Scott Van Pelt and Joe Buck, of course).
