The Los Angeles Rams shocked the sports world when they released star running back Todd Gurley some two years after giving him a massive extension.
The 25-year-old was one of the best running backs in the NFL during his first four seasons, but the health of his knees became of a topic of discussion and it showed during the 2019 season. He was shockingly in good spirits after his release, even joking about being fired on his day off following his release from the Rams.
Gurley, who signed a four-year, $60 million extension before the 2018 season, recently took to Instagram and delivered a funny message to his former team, but it actually had some truth in it as well.
“Y’all home right?” he joked. “But for real, tho.”
The Rams did not have to pay Gurley $10.5 million in base salary and a bonus by releasing him when they did. They can also spread his dead money hit of $17.25 million across two seasons after designating him a post-June 1st release.
Gurley has since moved on with his life by signing a deal to play with the Atlanta Falcons.
