The shocking news on Thursday was easily the Los Angeles Rams cutting star running back Todd Gurley less than two years after giving him a new four-year extension worth $60 million deal that included $45 million guaranteed.
He seems to already have his sights set on two franchises.
According to Josina Anderson of ESPN, the free agent RB has the Dolphins and Falcons at the top of his list, Miami is highly unlikely after they just signed RB Jordan Howard to a decent contract.
Despite rumors about his health, Gurley was still able to have a solid 2019 season, rushing for 857 yards to go along with 31 receptions for 207 yards receiving and 14 total touchdowns. However, it was a far cry from the numbers he had put up in the previous two years that got him his big extension.
The 25-year-old will leave the Rams with a $20.15 million dead-cap hit. If they waited until 2021, it would’ve been a more manageable $8.4 million, but I guess the team couldn’t wait to get him off the roster.
