The Pittsburgh Steelers may have just lost a big-time player in the first game of the year.
Late in the 4th quarter, TJ Watt had to leave the game due to an injury. Cameras caught him saying, “I tore my pec” as he walked off the field.
Watt had to come out of the game during the Bengals’ final drive of regulation, which resulted in the Bengals’ game-tying touchdown from Joe Burrow to Ja’Marr Chase. The two teams are now headed to overtime in what has easily been the wildest week one contest so far.
We should have a better idea of what Watt is dealing with once the coaches speak to the media after this game. If Watt does indeed have a torn pectoral muscle, it’s likely that we may have seen the last of the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year this season.
That would be an incredibly tough loss for the Steelers, who were a completely different team without Watt last season.
