TJ Hockenson was slated to undergo an MRI on Monday after sustaining a right knee injury in Sunday’s 30-24 loss to the Lions. The Vikings were said to be prepared for the worst.
Well, the worst came.
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell announced Tuesday that tight end T.J. Hockenson has an MCL and ACL injury and will miss the remainder of the season as he needs surgery.
Hockenson injured his knee after a catch over the middle at the beginning of the third quarter. His leg looked like it hyper-extended and he left the game immediately. This will be a significant blow to their playoff chances and if it’s significant enough, could impact the 2024 Vikings.
The 7-8 Vikings no longer control their destiny, and are now chasing the Rams and the Seahawks for a wild-card berth.
