Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith certainly didn’t mince words when he met with Northwestern offensive tackle Peter Skoronski.
Many had Skoronski ranked as the best offensive line prospect in this year’s class. He wound up being the third one taken (at No. 11 overall by the Tennessee Titans) after Paris Johnson Jr. (sixth overall to the Arizona Cardinals) and Darnell Wright (10th overall to the Tennessee Titans).
The Titans obviously love what they saw on Skoronski’s game type, as well as his interviews with head coach Mike Vrabel and company.
But according to Skoronski, Atlanta’s head coach was not so pleased with the Northwestern product’s answers during their meeting, via Dan Pompei of The Athletic:
“The head coach (Smith) was on me the second I got in there. I was giving them generic answers to their questions, and he said, ‘You’re really boring me right now. Your answers are so boring.’ The whole meeting, he kept looking at his computer. I was kind of laughing to myself and said, ‘Sorry, I don’t know what you want me to do. I’m answering you honestly.”
Offensive tackle was a pressing need for Tennessee after they released veteran Pro Bowler Taylor Lewan from his contract. And Skoronski will almost definitely step in as a starter on Tennessee’s rebuilt o-line.

Tennessee made another big splash by trading up into the No. 33 spot, where they selected Kentucky Wildcats’ quarterback Will Levis. His drop from the first round was a giant surprise, as many thought Levis would be a top-five or 10 selection.
The Titans jumped out to a promising 7-3 start last season and looked poised to win their third straight AFC South division title.
But the club collapsed in the second half, losing a win-or-go-home Week 18 game to the Jacksonville Jaguars which brought their three-year postseason streak to a halt. Tennessee’s 7-10 finish also marked their first losing season since 2015.
