Tennessee Titans superstar running back Derrick Henry made the wrong kind of history in Sunday’s 19-16 overtime loss to the Houston Texans.
Per Ryan McDowell of the Dynasty Football League, the two-time rushing champion and 2020 Offensive Player of the Year became the first NFL player ever to record less than 15 yards from scrimmage after getting a minimum of 20 touches:
The Texans’ front seven limited Henry to just nine yards rushing on 16 carries. Incredibly, he also had four receptions that went for only one yard.
Henry obviously can’t take blame for that. Clearly, the Titans’ offensive line had a miserable day run blocking, because an RB of Henry’s caliber would never single-handedly play that poorly throughout the entirety of one game.
Amid another lost year for the Titans, the soon-to-be 30-year-old is having another productive year with 884 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns. With three games to go, Henry is likely to record his fifth 1,000-yard season in six years.
