Ran Carthon’s wife never saw the vision, but she certainly believes now.
The Titans took Friday to introduce their new general manager Ran Carthon, after he was hired to replace Jon Robinson who was fired in December.
Carthon spoke in his opening statement, but there was one viral moment that everybody is talking about that involved his wife. Carthon always dreamed of being an NFL general manager once his playing career ended, but his then-girlfriend did not believe.
Carthon was a running back at the University of Florida in the spring of 2003 when he told his girlfriend (now his wife) he wanted to be a general manager of an NFL team one day. His goals almost ended their relationship.
“She later told me she almost stopped dating me because she never met somebody that lived in La La Land,” Carthon recalled to reporters.
“But honey, today that dream comes true, and we’re realizing that world that we’ve put in.”

Carthon was undrafted and played nine NFL games with the Indianapolis Colts. Two years after his career ended, he joined the Atlanta Falcons as a pro scout. He has since worked with the St. Louis Rams to be their director of player personnel for five years. He joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2017 and was most recently their director of player personnel.
He has truly worked himself from the bottom to the top.
