Aaron Rodgers reportedly isn’t the only veteran quarterback on the trade block with the 2023 NFL Draft drawing closer.
The four-time league MVP is widely expected to be traded to the New York Jets. Fans have been waiting over a month for confirmation on that front, but we’ll just have to see what happens in the coming days (or weeks).
Speaking on SportsCenter (h/t Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report), ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that clubs believe Tennessee Titans signal-caller Ryan Tannehill is also “available” in a potential trade:
“Teams I talk to do believe that Tannehill could be, or is, available via trade. He’s got a $36 million cap hit. New GM Ran Carthon is resetting this roster in a big way, they’re making some moves. And so, right now they would need a replacement though, they would need somebody in place.
“So, do they draft one? I’ve talked to some teams who believe that the Titans are looking at moving up or even moving back from No. 11 because they have a lot of needs to fill. So, it’s not all about the quarterback position. So, at least Ryan Tannehill is comfort food, he is available, and they know what to expect.”
Last season, Tannehill completed 65.2 percent of pass attempts for 2,536 yards and 13 touchdowns against six interceptions. For his career, Tannehill has 33,265 passing yards and 212 touchdowns.
Tannehill is entering the final season of his contract for the Titans, who are coming off their first losing season since 2015. The 34-year-old missed each of Tennessee’s final three games with an ankle injury, and the Titans wound up losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars in a Week 18 win-or-go-home game.
