Titans’ Logan Ryan Breaks Down How The Team Basically Used Madden’s ‘Engage Eight’ To Stop Lamar Jackson

Madden fans will love this.

The Tennessee Titans did what not many teams could do all 2019 season, and that was limit Lamar Jackson and stop him from hurting the team. Looking at his stats, you would see that Lamar Jackson threw for 365 yards, but many of his completions came in garbage time when the game was already decided.

Following his team’s shocking divisional-round win over the Baltimore Ravens, Titans cornerback Logan Ryan explained Tennessee’s method for stopping Jackson and he used a defensive scheme from the popular Madden NFL game to explain.

Great breakdown from Logan Ryan on how the Titans shut down Lamar Jackson: "We had 8-, 9-man boxes all night. You play Madden and run Engage Eight all day, it’s hard to run the ball. We pretty much did that."

The Titans used eight- or nine-man boxes all night and just dared Jackson to be a QB and pass the ball on them for victory. Once Tennessee was out in front early, the Ravens had no choice but to try and throw the ball.

The Titans defense held the Ravens offense to only 12 points. Back-to-back wins over the Patriots and Ravens has the Titans in the AFC Title game.
