If there’s one young and former highly-touted wide receiver who needs a fresh start, it’s Treylon Burks of the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans were so high on Treylon Burks that they traded away superstar AJ Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles on day one of the 2022 NFL Draft. Then with the No. 18 selection, Tennessee snagged the Arkansas wideout.
Injuries have limited Burks to 22 total games over his first two NFL seasons. He has only compiled 49 receptions for 665 yards and one touchdown, with only a single 100-yard game under his bet.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine proposed one trade idea for all 32 NFL teams before Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season rolls around. In the Titans’ entry, he proposed that they trade Burks and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Washington Commanders for a 2025 fifth-round pick:
“Yet, there’s just not much growth potential for Burks’ role given who they have on the roster. It would make some sense to simply move on from Burks when Nick Westbrook-Ikhine has been a more consistent fourth receiver.
The Commanders are a team that should be willing to give Burks a shot. They don’t have much after Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. The Cardinals brought in Burks for a pre-draft visit when Kliff Kingsbury was head coach. He now works as the Commanders offensive coordinator.”

The Titans signed former Jacksonville Jaguars star Calvin Ridley and ex-Cincinnati Bengals star Tyler Boyd in free agency. With perennial Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins also there, Burks projects to be Tennessee’s No. 4 receiver this year.
But we will see if new head coach Brian Callahan and second-year quarterback Will Levis can find a way to unlock Burks’ potential in 2024. But if he gets off to a slow start, don’t be surprised if Burks hits the trade block.
Treylon Burks Would Be An Enticing Fit In Washington
The Commanders are entering a new era of football led by rookie QB Jayden Daniels, head coach Dan Quinn and GM Adam Peters. Daniels already has one established star in Terry McLaurin at wideout plus 2022 first-rounder Jahan Dotson, who’s showed signs of growing into a star.
But a dual-threat QB like Daniels might manage to unlock Burks and help him emerge as a star in this league. Washington could use more playmakers outside of McLaurin and Dotson, and perhaps Burks’ big-play ability would flourish with an electrifying and super-athletic quarterback.
