Last month, the NFL announced a wide-ranging television contract that will now includes games on all four major U.S. television networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX), plus ESPN, Amazon and NFL Network.
One of the biggest announcements is Amazon Prime Video will be the new exclusive home of Thursday Night Football beginning in 2023.
That won’t be the case anymore, because now it has been moved a year to 2022. The NFL, Fox Sports and Amazon struck a deal in which Fox will relinquish the Thursday Night package after this season, allowing Amazon to take over a year early.
Fox wanted out of “Thursday Night Football,” where it was paying $650 million per season for what had been a five-year agreement.
Amazon’s deal is now for 11 years and for around $11 billion.
This will be the final year of Fox’s Joe Buck and Troy Aikman calling Thursday nights.
