Most NFL teams don’t want to appear on Hard Knocks, but the NFL makes it damn clear that they do not care and will force a team to do it against their will.
That might be happening again.
There are three NFL teams that would be unable to decline to appear on ‘Hard Knocks’ this year if another team does not volunteer.
The Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, and New Orleans Saints are the only NFL teams that HBO can force to do the annual edition of “Hard Knocks.
All teams with a first-year head coach are exempt from being picked for the show. Teams that have been in the playoffs in either of the last two previous years are also exempt.
Teams also can’t be forced to do the show if they’ve been featured on it in the last ten years.

That leaves those above teams as the only ones who can be forced to do it.
Another franchise could always volunteer, but coaches are highly unlikely to ever do that. If being on it will give you a ten-year break, it may be best to get it over it and not have to deal with it for the next decade.
