The Carolina Panthers released quarterback Cam Newton, the team’s No. 1 overall selection in the 2011 draft, back on March 24th. It’s been three weeks and Cam is still waiting for an interested team to hit him up.
Colin Cowherd stated on Wednesday that you can go ahead and eliminate three teams from his free agency decision.
Cowherd said the Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots and Las Vegas Raiders are not options for the former Auburn Tigers star. He added that none of the three teams had real interest in signing him.
The Chargers had been linked to Newton more than any other team, but the team reportedly likes Tyrod Taylor and they also have plans to draft a QB, according to Cowherd.
New England has had chances to sign a QB, but they seem to be fine with Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer going forward. The Las Vegas Raiders were linked to Tom Brady, but once that fell through, they decided to sign Marcus Mariota instead.
Cowherd does think the Pittsburgh Steelers make the most since.
