When the Buffalo Bills take the field for their Wild Card contest tonight against the New England Patriots, they’ll have the advantage of playing at home. Although, based on a stat that’s recently come to light, playing in the freezing cold Buffalo weather may not be as big of an advantage as you might think.
Sure, it’ll help having those raucous Bills fans in attendance to cheer them on during one of the coldest games in recent memory. But these extremely low temperatures could be an issue for Bills quarterback Josh Allen, based on previous performances in such conditions. Gresh & Keefe from SportsRadio 93.7 WEEI-FM did some research and found that Allens numbers in cold weather game were unimpressive, to say the least.
The 3-2 record is good, but that completion percentage, passing yards average and touchdown-to-interception ratio has to worry you, especially against a Bill Belichick-coached team.
And to make matters worse, today’s game won’t just be cold. It’s going to be FREEZING! Temperatures are expected to be in the single digits and they could even hover just above zero with the wind chill.
Not many quarterbacks would have much success in temperatures as cold as what we’ll see tonight in Buffalo. The Bills will likely need their ground game and run defense to be up to the challenge if they want to continue their run to a Super Bowl.
