The Baltimore Ravens were a team to be reckoned with in 2024 as they eased through the year despite a slow start.
Their year is over now after being eliminated in the Divisional round.
We are now finding out some cool facts about the team and their uniforms that many teams might want to recreate in the future.
For Ravens players, one crucial factor in their success this past year was thanks in part to Ebony Short, a former Broadway designer.
Short, who grew up a Ravens fan just miles from the team’s facility, got her first sewing machine for Christmas around the age of 10.
It did not take her long to get hooked. She began making clothes for her dolls and, eventually, her own prom dress.
No one could’ve guessed this would’ve turned into a career.

She is now leading the Baltimore Ravens as the head seamstress and working incredibly long hours to give the Baltimore Ravens an edge on the field.
One of her most notable projects is adding battery-powered hand warmers to Lamar Jackson’s jersey, which provides him with warmth during cold games. That was certainly needed when the team took on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round and then the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round.
This Broadway designer gives the Baltimore Ravens an advantage that almost no other NFL team has.

But not in the way you might think.
Here's how 👇

When Ebony Short was just 10 years old, she got her first sewing machine for Christmas, as well as a lesson on how to use it from her dad, Keith.

This one gift led her to start designing clothes for her dolls and making her own prom dress.

It even landed her at New York’s prestigious Parsons School of Design where she would go on to work for major Broadway productions like “The Lion King” and “Cinderella.”

However, in 2019, Ebony was faced with a decision:

Move to California to design costumes for Cher or move back home and work for the Baltimore Ravens.

And given the fact that Ebony grew up less than 2 miles from the Raven’s training facility, the decision felt like a no-brainer.

But what does she even do for the team?

The Ravens are actually one of just three NFL teams who hire full-time, in-house seamstresses, which means they’re able to offer a level of uniform customization that can give their players a massive edge on game day.

For example, in the Ravens' last game, you may have seen Lamar Jackson with a red dot on his stomach.

That is the custom, battery-powered hand-warming pouch that Ebony sews into every one of his jerseys during cold weather games.

Ebony will often times paint players custom cleats or remove fabric from their jerseys so that it fits tighter to help them avoid getting held.

In fact, Ebony has become so popular with the Ravens that her team of five, who often work 10-12 hour days during the season, just got a brand new office space.

Maybe she should get some credit for Lamar’s MVPs…

Where Do The Baltimore Ravens Go From Here?
The Ravens fell short of reaching the conference championship game for the fourth time in their past five playoff appearances since Lamar Jackson’s arrival in 2018.
Jackson’s postseason record dropped to 3-5 and 1-5 when he had a turnover.
The only answer to their woes is to stop turning the ball over.
