Matthew Stafford is getting ready to wake up to some beautiful sunshine days after getting traded on Saturday.
The Detroit Lions quarterback asked the franchise to trade him and they agreed to just that as they sent the veteran QB to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Goff, a first-round pick in 2022 and a first-round pick in 2023, and a third-round pick in 2021.
There were reportedly numerous teams that had offers on the table, but one of them also stood out so much, that it was described as being better than what the Rams offered.
“The Rams were screwed with a bad contract on (Jared) Goff and the Lions helped them and don’t even get a good pick this year. The Washington offer was better,” a league source told NFL insider Josina Anderson.
The Washington Football Team is in desperate need of QB play, despite the team making the postseason last season. Alex Smith was unable to suit up at the tail end of the year because of injuries, and he’ll be 37-years-old by the time next season starts.
The team was forced to cut Dwayne Haskins from the squad after issues with him on and off the field.
