If history is an indicator, an upcoming NFL game will provide a spoiler on the victor of the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Vice President Kamala Harris is running against Republican nominee and former president Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 5. Harris aims to become the first woman to be elected president, while Trump aims to become just the second president to serve two non-consecutive terms (Grover Cleveland served two terms from 1885 to 1889 and 1893 to 1897).
X/Twitter user Tyler Webb shared an interesting thread detailing how the NFL’s Washington Commanders have foreshadowed 17 of the last 19 elections. Here are the details:

The only two times over the last 19 U.S. presidential elections were this “rule” did not apply? As Webb notes, it happened in back-to-back elections in 2012 and 2016, with Barack Obama and Donald Trump emerging victorious, respectively.
So if history repeats itself, the Commanders-Bears game will provide a significant spoiler on the 2024 election. Even folks who don’t watch football should tune into that game. Not to mention that the first meeting between Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels should be a dandy.
Jayden Daniels’ Commanders are one of the biggest surprises of the young 2024 NFL season, riding their prolific offense to a 3-1 start. Washington, currently first in the NFC East, will host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
2024 U.S. Presidential Election Is Like No Other
As previously noted, history will be made one way or another: Harris becomes the first woman to serve in office, or Trump will be the first president in more than a century to serve non-consecutive terms.
This election is already especially unique because Joe Biden decided to withdraw from the race following concerns about his health and performances in debates and public events. Biden defeated Trump in the 2020 election, becoming the oldest president to assume office.
