The Kansas City Chiefs had the chance to eliminate the rival Denver Broncos from playoff contention by beating them in Sunday’s Week 18 game, but they chose to sit all of their starters since they had nothing to play for.
The team finished the regular season with a 15-2 record, and they already secured the AFC West title and the No. 1 overall seed in the conference.
Unfortunately for them, they were unable to leave from Denver to head home on time.
A day after their scheduled takeoff from Kansas City International Airport was delayed due to rapid ice accumulation on the airfield, the Kansas City Chiefs’ plane was unable to return to Kansas City until at least Monday, thanks to ongoing severe weather in the area.
The Chiefs have been grounded in Denver. The airport in Kansas City was closed on Sunday night due to heavy storms.
