Football fans are teeing off on a reporter for asking Caleb Williams a strange question during the latter’s interview with the media at the NFL Combine on Friday.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the likely first overall pick of this year’s draft would not work out nor undergo standard medical testing at the NFL Combine. The other top QB prospects in this year’s class, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and USC’s Jayden Daniels, also declined to throw at the Combine.
During Williams’ media session on Friday, Dustin Ludke of Dynasty Pros Football asked the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner if he’s simply “afraid to be measured” up against his peers at the NFL Combine.
Williams responded by kindly telling Ludke that the decision came down to him, his team and family members:

Williams is the overwhelming favorite to go first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. The top selection is held by the Chicago Bears, who obtained the pick via the Carolina Panthers thanks to last year’s trade-up for Bryce Young.
If the Bears decide they’re going to take Williams, they’ll most certainly trade 2021 first-rounder Justin Fields ahead of the draft next month.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Williams completed 68.6 percent of his pass attempts in his final season of college football for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns against five interceptions to go along with 11 rushing scores.
