NFL fans are saying the same thing about Christian McCaffrey following the latest concerning injury update on the San Francisco 49ers superstar running back.
Christian McCaffrey, who has yet to play this season, is on the injured reserve as he recovers from a calf/Achilles injury. The 49ers will try to avoid a disastrous 1-3 start without “Run CMC” when they host the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.
Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle provided additional details on McCaffrey’s injury status after speaking with Dr. Kenton Fibel, a sports medicine doctor and the Medical Director of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks.
Dr. Fibel told Branch that Christian McCaffrey would miss “closer to a couple of months” if he underwent a procedure to treat his Achilles injury. If that’s the case, the 49ers might not get the reigning rushing champion back until late November at earliest.
Following the latest concerning injury update on McCaffrey, NFL fans got back to blaming the “Madden Curse.”

It’s a brutal blow for the 49ers, whose offense reached another level following McCaffrey’s arrival via trade with the Carolina Panthers in 2022. There’s no replacing a former 1,000/1,000 player who will always push for 2,000 yards of offense as long as he’s healthy.
Injuries have unfortunately cut into much of McCaffrey’s prime years, as he was limited to 10 total games over the 2020 and 2021 seasons with the Carolina Panthers.
49ers Need Christian McCaffrey Back For The Postseason
The 49ers have enough offensive talent to get by in the regular season without McCaffrey (Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jordan Mason and George Kittle). But his game-wrecking abilities cannot be matched, so the main priority has to be to get him healthy for the postseason.
In six career postseason games with San Francisco, Christian McCaffrey has 506 rushing yards, six rushing scores, 31 receptions, 213 receiving yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns.
